yes.

You cannot trust this site.

"Bogus reviews, and it is very hard to get them to remove a bonus review too. They prey on product name search terms and then direct you to products that they are affiliated to (ie they earch commissions from the products they rank highly), and they get their reviews of other products wrong and don't update them. What's your opinion about this antivirus softwares review? Does the site lies or tells the truth?

You can view it here:

http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

I wouldn't agree with their top ten. A (much) better website for analysis is AV-Comparatives:

http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse_2008_05.php

A plus side is that most of these antiviruses are free to use.

Hope that helps.

Let me tell u dat this site is partly true about it's review,

but that's the case of 6 months ago.

I mean 2 say I had surfed this site 6 months ago and now that information has been outdated !!!!!!!

Ok, but the truth is KasperSky & Norton are both now in a healthy battle to wash each other cuz they both are best & AVG has also joined them.

If u ask for my review then I wud definitely vote for Norton Internet Security 2009. [Plz Don't mind for this xtra point]

I dont agree with the top ten antivirus software from the site given. You can checkout the best antivirus and spyware product from a very popular computer magazine called PCWORLD( http://www.pcworld.com). Their site said that kaspersky is the best antivirus followed by Norton and Mcafee in the second and third position. Checkout the complete review from http://www.pcworld.com/topics/security.html

depends what you believe, they can be rigged by what viruses they detect, there is another one below scroll thru the graphs, they kinda don't match with your link, my link puts Nod-32 1st, Norton's 2nd best and AVG last so go figure, your link puts Norton's in 9th and AVG in top 5?? I have said it depends on personal choice , everyone goes to different sites, so are likely to pick up different virus / worm / malware / spyware. Did Independant company do test on all AV programs, How did they run the test?, by rights should have checked every single "virus" known to date by every program, but as i said before it is easy to rig. I not a fan of freebies but have used Norton's since 2002 and it only let me down once. Plus I think they have lifted their game a bit, and the program has lost a bit of weight. It suits my purposes, so I am happy.

I'm not going to click on that because I don't trust it. I have a link of my own that I do trust: AV-Test.org I have their test results and this independent agency has the best information I've found. The link you gave does not test the best or even the better, free AV products. They seem to think if you don't pay a lot for it, your computer isn't protected. They're full of bull. I've used Avast 4 Home for 5 years and received several virus warnings over the years, giving me time to get out of the site or stop what I was doing before a virus could get to my machine. AND I run antispyware weekly. The website you listed says that the AV products will find and remove spyware. That's plainly untrue.

Those commercial base review cannot be trusted.

If you someone pay you a large sum of money, you will write good things about their products.

I only trusted those reviews which are not bias and have conduct proper testing of the products against unknown malwares.

http://www.malware-test.com/

Hi,

don't bother to read the write up's just download and run "AVG 8" it's still the best free anti-virus around. this will help you.

Antivirus review!!!!!!!!!!!!?

someone know bitdefender or rising antivirus?

thanks

Yeah I used Bitdefender for awhile. It was great, one of the best I've used.

It's also rated #1 here on this site..

http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/bitdefender-review.html

Bitdefender is one of these programs that you either love or hate! It scores well in independent testing, but the setup process can be a bit cumbersome and another criticism is that it completely takes over your computer, producing alerts every time you want to do anything.

I don't know the other one, so best leave alone!

Yes, i have used them both. Bit Defender is the best Anti-Virus software according to the 2009 Test Results here: http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/. Rising isn't really that good so i wouldn't go with that one. Im using Kaspersky and i have to tell you, it's way better than Bit Defender. But it's your choice. Use Avast for a FREE one. Or use Bit Defender or Kaspersky as a PAID for one.

Bit-defender is good yeah but i use avast 4 home its free, fun and fast. it only uses 32MB ram and also keeps scanning even when just in a tray icon it doesn't update so often saving you disk space and system Performance avast also has these features that bit-defender doesn't I.E

P2P scanner and a Web scanner

good luck

Bitdefender is a good program. I would try the free trial first. Some users have had problems getting it to work on their systems. As far as rising goes you should just skip that one.

Antivirus Software Comparison | PC Antivirus Reviews 2008?

Antivirus Software Comparison | PC Antivirus Reviews 2008

i still don't understand what you want.

m

Why do people pay for antivirus software if there are good ones available for free?

What is the difference in the A/V software you pay 40 bucks a year for versus the ones you download for free from cnet.com? I have recently read many reviews about the AVG antivirus program which is free and I haven't found many negative comments about it. Does anyone have experience with AVG?

we have the free edition AVG and have never had any problems with it. updates every day, takes seconds. very reliable. is better than most big brand names in my opinion, as it picks up some virus threats that "well known" brands often miss. a big thumbs up in my view.

The ffree ones offer very little real support and are not always reliable. They are free so the public can test them out and find their errors. Then the company that made the software fixes it then SELLS the new product!

It's best to stick with the big names!

people like to waste money

Quite simple answer actually

1: They aren't aware that there are FREE Anti Virus prgs out there

2: They think that because it's FREE it CAN'T be any good.

THEY ARE WRONG!

There really is no reason to pay for an anti-virus, the free ones are just as good. Most people pay for them because of their lack of knowledge. For example, many people are still hooked with Microsoft Office, but don't realize that Open Office has the same interface and all the same capabilities for free.

people who don't know about the freebies will pay for them. ignorance is expensive.

Well, its very simple

First of all why would companies and websites give good antivirus softwares for free? Well, even though they do give it for free they don't give everything (they might give scanning and other stuff, but not every thing it can offer)

Like me, I have Ad-Aware but i dont have the complete program

But when you buy it you get the best and the entire program and its uses

And you get it with money

And as you know, money can get you not only the best but exactly what you want

Money, yup

Does the software from cnet.com give or let you install and use the complete contents? Does it say, for example, "This function does not come with Personal Edition"

If it says something like that then it answers my theory

But if it doesn't then it shows that there are some...SOME..that are free and in its entirety or complete with every function

you get what you pay for...

When I was running Windows, AVG was the one I used & I've found it to be very good. Most people will pay for something just to get peace of mind.

Actually, the firewall is more improtant than the anti-virus because its purpose is to stop those attacks and prevent rogue intruders.

Of couse, you could always run Linux and not have to worry about viruses.... :-)

Best rated free antivirus program for home vista?

Could anyone suggest please the well proven and reviewed free antivirus software for vista home premium 32 bit.

Further the norton that came preloaded does not get uninstalled as it asks for the insertion of the cd that I never received!

My Personal favorite is AVG. Rock solid protection....great price of free :-). Hope this helps!!!

Download it here : http://free.grisoft.com/

The best free ones are Avast and AVG, I would recommend the second as I have tried them both and the first slowed my computer down whereas AVG did not!

Website for antivirus reviews 2008?

Which website(s) are reliable for unbiased reviews of antivirus software, spyware, security, etc. for 2008 and not 2005. I feel that some sites are paid to place certain vendors in a particular order. How do we know which software is really better than the others? There is no consistency, each site I visit either has completely different software or rankings. Is there a website that actually has the consumers best interest at heart?

Mac antivirus program help? ..................intego review/opinion?

my school requires that i have an actual antivirus program in order to use internet. i have macbook pro and plan on using parallels soon. i found that intego offers a dual protection package but i cant seem to find any reviews on it. should i get the antivirus dp or internet securit dp which has antivirus, firewall, antispam, antiphising, antispyware. im leaning on the internet security one but would it slow down my mac performance

Advice on anti-virus for PC needs a title without the word "Mac", even if you are installing Windows on a Mac. You just won't get as many answers from Mac people.

For Windows antivirus, I use AVG and it is very effective but only after all the MS updates. It seems the AVG profiles don't really look for old Trojans and such like Sowela and Recycler. I installed AVG on my office-mate's WinTel box and it found 11 bad things (Trojans, dialers, etc.) right off the bat.

For Mac OS X, I installed ClamAV but I have only scanned once, took 20 minutes, found nothing. It's really hard to judge how well anti-virus programs work on a Mac when there is nothing out there for them to find. I think until someone makes a real virus for Mac, we can just sit and wait, like the Maytag repairman. When a real problem arises, the real problem fixers will show what they can do. Then we will know which one is best. A poll of what Mac geeks use is listed below. Sixty-seven percent of them use nothing and they are the power users.

Comodo antivirus review?

I don't know if Comodo antivirus is any good or not but if you are looking for a good free antivirus programme then you are better off going for either AVG Free Edition version 8.0 or Avira Antivir. Both of these are very good antivirus programmes. Just google search either name for download sites. And remember, don't use more than one antivirus programme on one computer at the same time.

Any review that include's ParetoLogic Anti-Virus PLUS

is suspect to say the very least as they also do the crap

program Regcure as well as others.....see below..

http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/ParetoLogic.com

http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/regcure.com

And if you add to that ....where are Avira.....Avast...

Norton.....Mcafee......Nowhere to be seen.

Steer well clear of this site as you can see below.

To put ParetoLogic at No 6 is what this is about.

Top ten review is about sales. The software company that will give them the most money get to be top on the list. They are not a legit web site. They used to be 5 star review and everyone caught on to them. So they just change their name and made the site look better. There is nothing wrong with there top pick, but since their rating are based on nothing but how much money they can get from each company I won't go there for information.

Personally, I don't like those so-called anti-virus.

They r so comlicated to use. When I wanna delete

the virus, those anti-virus will pop up this and that.

So annoying!!! I like those one click to scan

and one click to remove. So, I prefer avast home edition

and spyware cease.

These are based on reviews

the trouble with these sort of 'top 10's' are that very few people will have tried ALL the products to be able to make an intelligent comparison.

so.....it depends on who did the reviews, and what comparisons they were using.

Who cares?

Antivirus software doesn't really protect you anyway.

Run a limited user account and use Firefox with the NoScript extension. That will offer 100 times better protection than using an administrator account with "antivirus."

just who do you think pays for the running of that site

it is just a glorified advertising site.
